The Music Caterers was founded and established by Alvin J. Garrett, from Tuscaloosa, AL. While earning a degree in Business Management and playing football at Samford University in Birmingham, AL, Alvin was also building a solid network of fellow musicians. As a bass guitarist, Garrett was very active on the music scene performing with choirs, churches, and bands. After exhibiting solid leadership abilities, these entities began asking Mr. Garrett to assemble and direct the bands. That's when the vision of a chef, serving up musicians on a platter came to his mind. After establishing the business, Garrett, who dubbed himself, The "Chef" Executive Officer, put his business degree to work began marketing The Music Caterers to local businesses and event planners. This helped create more jobs and opportunities for his musician friends. Simultaneously becoming a founder of the band, Just A Few Cats, wasn't a bad idea either.

As the bass guitarist for Just A Few Cats, Garrett also became the business "cat" for the group. The other members in the group entrusted their operations to The Music Caterers, and 8 years later, they're growing stronger than ever. Since the spring of 2000, The Music Caterers have played an intricate role in the operations for Just A Few Cats, and has become an outlet for many independent musicians, singers, and DJs.

The Music Caterers is a little bit different from a booking agency, even though the functions are similar. Although we hire bands,  we primarily focus on creating opportunities for entertainers that shuffle around. Most musicians and singers quickly learn that, in order to survive in the music business, they must subcontract their services. Not many of them find long-term success by being an exclusive member of one group. Henceforth, The Music Caterers offers the flexibility they desire with the trustworthiness of an established brand. Through our relationships with corporations, event planners, and even other booking agencies, our ingredients regularly find themselves included in a Music Caterers recipe!.

Our mission is to serve YOU, as well as the musicians, singers and DJs we provide. We strive to establish a relationship with all our clients that long outlast the event.
